I’m Good At Being Creative, I’m Just Not Good At Life!

I’m very good at what I do. That sounds big-headed but it’s not meant to be. Partly, it’s meant to act as an affirmation to convince myself because I beat myself up a lot (yes, I’m very good at that)! Also, if I’m not good at something then I tend to avoid doing it. That means I’m good at what I do but I don’t do much, lol.

I know I’m very good at my paid job. I’ve been there for over 11 years so I have a lot of experience and knowledge, I can multitask and I’m good at getting things done before deadlines. But you don’t want to hear about that because it’s boring!

I think I’m good at writing – poetry, my blog and my novel. I’m not sure I’ll ever have the confidence to publish my novel but I’m working on the reasons why I procrastinate (which I’m extraordinarily good at!) when I’m supposed to be editing it so, maybe, one day…(or maybe not).   🙂

I’m good at drawing and painting. I’ll post a photo of one of my wax paintings tomorrow.

I’m good at fractals though I do want to learn more about manipulating them (changing parts of them and maybe adding drawings or bits of photos to them) to see if I can make them even better. People seem to like them and I love doing them so here is one I made earlier today. I hope you like it. I’ve called it “Infinity” as it has the infinity symbol (the sideways 8 which is sometimes called the lemniscate) in it.

    • Thank you Judy. You’re very brave going to Mexico on your own. I could never do that.
I love your poetry and story. It must be difficult to make the plot fit the quotes you are given. I look forward to reading more of your work. 🙂

  1. I am in a similar psychological boat but not sure what I am good at anymore. Or, rather, what people say I do well doesn’t seem to matter/amount to much. It boils down to purpose and value. As for publishing, I am yet unsure what’s the right path to go with my own books.

    • I’d love to be able to make a living from my creative pursuits but I haven’t managed to so far. I’ll keep plugging away though. If I ever get my book into a state that I think is good enough to publish, I’ll probably go down the Kindle route as that seems to be growing in popularity.
Good luck with your books and I wish you a speedy recovery. 🙂
